New York City!!

A fun weekend with some of my all-time favorite girls in one of the coolest cities around!  We saw all the sites, did a harbor cruise and showed our sweet dance moves, checked out some foodie attractions, treated ourselves to a pedicure, and had a celebrity siting! (Danny Pino)!  Gretchen was an amazing hostess...Rebecca, Bree, Heather, Emily and I had the best time with her as our fabulous tour guide!

Painting Class

This was one of my Living Social deals I have been collecting lately. :) Bryn emailed some people about the half off painting class, and Stephanie, Jandee and I wanted to join in! I may not be an artist, but I thought it was really fun and is a great idea for a girls night out. I don't really know what to do with picture now, but I am still glad I did it!

3rd Annual Gainesville Girls Weekend!

I always forget what order Picasa pulls up the pictures...I don't know why, because it was exactly in the order I picked them in...I thought it went last to first. Oh well...I started out on the right "foot" after all. :)

We started off the weekend at Outback and were thrilled with one of the host's who dabbled in photography...I think he did a great job of this group shot!

The thirty something group was smaller this year...is it getting less cool to do these things in our old age? I don't think so.

The 20 somethings wanted their photo to help us remember the scare our trip started out with. Rebecca and I arrived at the hotel first because Bryant is in Jacksonville, and she took the kids to him (all of our kids, by the way...he watched all of them for the weekend...I am a jerk of a friend, but the Whitings are THE NICEST people ever. Also, Lindsay and Courtney helped me out with Marik because we couldn't fit all the kids in one car...again, I am a jerk, but thanks wonderful friends!) Anyway, when we got to the hotel Emily called Rebecca and said that Bree had mooned the other car of girls and they were offended and said if that was how the weekend was going to go down, they were going home. We freaked out...my heart was racing and I felt sick to my stomach. We were frantically calling the girls in the offended :) car, and couldn't reach them. I finally got a hold of Irene, and she played it up pretty well for a bit, then started laughing and felt bad that I was feeling so terrible, so told me they made it up...they hadn't even travelled together...plus, Bree was driving, so that would have made a moon difficult, but we didn't think of that. Don't worry, we slimed all the toilet seats with shampoo. I felt pretty bad when Cynthia and Keri...innocent bystanders were the first to use the bathrooms.

Rebecca and I came up with some prizes, and I won one of the ones I brought, but I was glad because it was pretty lame.

The hotel was great, we all had such a good time together, it was a perfect beach day Saturday, and we discovered that the "South Beach Grille" on crescent beach, while unsightly, is really good. Thanks for the laughs, girls!

Field Trip

I went with Marik's class last week on a fieldtrip to see the musical stage presentation of Beauty and the Beast. Marik being the manly kid that he is doesn't enjoy singing and dancing a whole lot, so I was anxious to see his reaction to the performance. :) When they first started singing he whipped his arms into folded position and did a little growl and under his breath commented that he hated singing. I was nervous, but I tried to make comments about how cool it was, and he got a little into in, and really liked to clap after they sang. (He did get a bit huffy at a love song and said he didn't like that part.) At one point he sat on my lap and said "Mom, I am thinking of something...I am thinking of me in a ninja costume, singing." So it became cool enough in the end, but maybe a ninja musical would be better next time...is there something like that out there?

Good Day

I never remember to blog, but I had to write a little something about my day yesterday. I am a pretty new runner, but I run just under 5 kilometers 3 days a week, and yesterday we made our best time ever...25minutes, 43 seconds. Very exciting! Also, I have had a leaking, totally rusted disposal in my sink (garbarator for my Canadian friends/relatives...really, does "garbage disposal make ANY sense? Is food garbage?) for quite a while, so I bit the bullet and bought a new one and installed it myself. I may have had some very frustrating moments, and I was shocked that I had to actually connect the cord to the wires on the unit, but I did it, and it works, and nothing leaks, and my kitchen won't stink anymore! It was a proud moment! :)

Good-byes

Gainesville has been an awesome place to live, with a major drawback...this time of year a lot of people finish their school or training or whatever and move away! We have had many goodbye get togethers lately, and it is pretty sad...
We had a goodbye "tea" for the members of the Rx group moving on: Sandra, Heather, Janene, Aimee and Stuart. Julie did such a great job, the black, white and pink theme was so cute!

This wasn't really a good-bye, but I am including it anyway...it turned out to be a sort of birthday get together for me. :)

A goodbye potluck for the Smith families and Parry's, amazing pictures courtesy of Gretchen...
